Employee Spotlight: Meet Spencer

Q: When did you start working at Sertifi?
A: I started back in March of 2017 as a Business Development Representative.

Q: What is your current role? What does a typical day look like?

A: I am currently a Property Account Executive. I am responsible for working with independent properties and properties where there is a master services agreement in place with a property management company. Through sales calls, demonstrations of the product and even attending industry trade shows I am able to introduce Sertifi as a solution to their business operations. My day-to-day includes supervising the hospitality Business Development Representatives, holding sales calls, demonstrating our products to prospective customers, and help our management team strategize on how to expand our business.

Q: What interests you most about sales?
A: Sales at Sertifi gives me the ability to be consultative sales rep and solve real problems that our customers are facing. I love it because it makes me truly feel like I am making an impactful change in their day-to-day. I like being an expert for my customers and solution to their problems while also seeing success in my personal and company’s goals. You really do reap the rewards of all the hard work you put in.

Q: How do you see your career evolving at Sertifi?
A: I’m excited to continue developing in my current role as a Property Account Executive and growing our hospitality team. Within the next couple years, I could see myself growing to a National or Enterprise level position in the sales organization.

Q: What are you looking forward to in the next coming months at Sertifi?
A: I’m most excited about hiring for more positions within our sales team and watching Sertifi grow. We are setting some big goals for next year and I’m focused on signing up as many customers as possible.

Q: What advice would you give a newcomer to be successful in your department?

A: The Business Development Representative and Account Executive roles are extremely autonomous so a willingness to collaborate and be hard working is essential. Above all, bringing a positive attitude to work every day will make or break your success. Sertifi is a company that is going to give you the freedom to structure your day the best way you can and make the biggest impact for yourself and the company. You will be in an open and honest relationship with all team members, so it is important to reciprocate that. Don’t be hesitant to share your opinions! 

Q: Tell us about your favorite memory from working here at Sertifi.
A: My favorite moment so far was being promoted from Business Development Representative to Account Executive! I was given more responsibility to coach our hospitality BDR team which has been a great learning experience.  

Q: What has been your favorite work event to attend?

A: Without a doubt, the IHG Technology Conference in San Juan, PR was my favorite. We had time to explore the island and nothing beats working on a beach! The highlight of the trip for me was having the opportunity to give back to a community in need. IHG teamed up with their attendees to help the La Perla community remove debris from Hurricanes Irma and Maria, landscape a new park area, and plant nearly a dozen trees to create a space that kids and adults could enjoy. It was an amazing experience to give back and we are excited to participate in more charitable causes as a company in 2019.

Q: If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?
A: I would go boating every day, skydive at least once a week and try more restaurants. Also, binge watch more shows!

Q: What is the best way to start your day?
A: The best way to start my day is with a good workout!

Q: What do you wish you knew more about? 
A: Space. Is there life out there? Are there more stars than grains of sand?
